Focusing on Murphy Gold

As you may, or may not, know, I've been very sick over the last couple of years, but I'm finally starting to get better. That's the main reason it's been so long since I posted an update to this blog.

I'm continuing to narrow my focus and concentrate on Murphy, NC. To that end, I'm building a new site at MurphyGold.com that focuses on information about Murphy and promotes select locally-owned small businesses in our charming little town in the mountains.

I am narrowing my focus in 2009

After several years of trying to establish this blog, I have made the decision to move it lower down on my priority scale.

Instead of focusing on all of western NC, I have narrowed my focus to just Murphy, NC and have reduced the number of places I write about the people, events, and organizations here.

I am just one person, not a news organization, so it really doesn't make any sense to try to spread myself too thin.

I will be putting my main efforts into promoting the people, events, organizations, and businesses in Murphy.

In Memory of Mattie Lee Dilbeck

Today, instead of talking about business or marketing, I'm going to tell you a brief story about a woman I admired a great deal, my Mom.

After fighting against a long illness, Mom died on Friday, November 21, 2008.

I wrote a little about her this morning: In Memory of Mattie Lee Dilbeck.

I'm going to miss her.

Nick Guthrie was the top listing agent and Bryan Durrance was the top selling agent for the month of December, 2007 at Western Carolina Real Estate Co Inc.

Bryan Durrance was the top sales agent for the month by closing the most transactions in December.

Nick Guthrie was the top listing agent. He listed the highest number of new properties in and around the Murphy, NC area.

Johnny Prather donates to US Marines Toys for Tots - Murphy, NC 28906

Johnny Prather, owner/broker of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc. in Murphy, NC, recently presented a check for $1,000 to the US Marine Corps Reserves Toys For Tots foundation.

Marjorie Thaggard, local Toys for Tots coordinator, and Ron Eichholz, who will be taking over for Thaggard this year, accepted the check.

The money was used to buy Christmas presents for Cherokee County children.
